The biggest advantage of digital scanners is the improvement in patient comfort. The cordless scanner means for quick, easy and comfortable impression taking, for both patient and dentist. Say goodbye to the uncomfortable experience of having traditional impressions taken.
They provide exceptionally high accuracy with the digital impressions they create. The dentist will scan your upper jaw, lower jaw and even your bite. With traditional impressions, there are several opportunities for your moulds to be slightly inaccurate – this is avoided with digital scanning technologies.
Digital scanners save time. Taking traditional impressions takes a significant amount of time as the material used has to be moulded in your mouth, and then it has to stay in your mouth for several minutes for it to set. The digital scanner is quick, and you don’t have to wait for the impression to set.
Using our new IntraOral scanner gives you the opportunity to view your smile digitally on screen in the same appointment. Your dentist can then use the technology to build a digital representation of what your smile will look like after the treatment process.
Hema took over as principal dentist in 2018. Having qualified from Kings College London in 2006, Hema has enjoyed and stayed working in general dental practice. The IntraOral Scanner takes one minute per arch to take the digital impressions.
When the dentist is scanning your mouth with the IntraOral scanner, you will feel no pain or discomfort. It will feel very similar to a regular dental examination - your dentist may need to gently guide your lips or sides of your mouth out of the way of the scanner.
It will cost you nothing extra to have digital impressions taken of your teeth.
