Our dentists are skilled at giving pain-free treatment. So even if you’re nervous or haven’t visited a dentist for years, trust us to take care of you and your teeth.
A filling repairs a tooth cavity and protects it from decay. White fillings are made from composite resin to match the colour of your teeth. Many patients prefer composite resin to silver amalgam because it looks more natural. It usually takes one appointment for a filling.
Inlays are a dental repair that’s in between a filling and a crown. If you have tooth decay that we can’t repair with a filling, but is not too serious, we’ll use an inlay. Inlays are made in a dental laboratory after your first visit. We bond them into your tooth on your second visit.
Crowns, sometimes known as caps, protect brittle and weakened teeth. Porcelain crowns look natural and will last for years without staining, changing colour or fading. It normally takes two visits to fit a crown. At your first visit, we’ll fit a temporary crown to cover your tooth while your permanent crown is made in a dental laboratory. On your second visit, we’ll remove the temporary crown and fit your permanent one.
If your tooth is chipped, cracked, discoloured or decayed, we may be able to repair it with bonding. Bonding involves moulding and shaping composite resin onto your tooth and then hardening it with a special light. We can normally complete a bonding treatment in a single appointment without the need for an anaesthetic.
Visit Stella Maris Dental where your dentist can examine your teeth. They will give you advice on which treatment is suitable for your individual case.
Many people are afraid of having dental treatment because they’ve had a frightening or painful experience in the past. Our dentists will always explain your treatment to you properly so you have a clear idea of what will happen. And we promise your treatment will be pain-free.
The number of appointments you’ll need depends on your treatment. For example, a filling takes just one visit; a bridge sometimes requires two or more appointments, while a dental implant typically needs several visits over a few months. You dentist will tell you what to expect at your consultation.
