Which type of adult braces are the right option for me?

Many people that suffer from crooked teeth believe that they’ve left it too late in life to resolve their issues. However, thankfully this is not true. There are many different adult braces solutions that can improve the alignment of your teeth, and give you the smile you have always dreamed of. 

We offer a range of different options for straightening your teeth as an adult, to suit patients’ needs and lifestyles.

Cosmetic Fixed Braces

Cosmetic fixed braces are very similar to traditional fixed braces. However, to make them more discrete, the wires and brackets are tooth coloured. At Stella Maris Dental, we offer the Six Month Smiles and Quick Straight Teeth straightening solutions. They provide exceptional results by moving the teeth in a very controlled way until they reach their desired position.

These fixed braces are perfect for those patients that want to transform their teeth quickly and in time for a special occasion. Fixed braces provide the ability to transform severely crooked teeth. Treatment time takes an average of four to nine months for anterior cases. 

We also provide comprehensive orthodontics, which can take longer but may be the more appropriate option with fewer compromises for complex cases.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are the ideal adult braces solution for those patients who would like to be able to straighten their teeth discretely. We offer the Invisalign and Smilelign solutions which both consist of wearing a series of clear and removable aligners. 

Although clear aligners offer effective results, they are only suitable for mild cases of misaligned teeth. We can assess whether you are suitable for clear aligners and what result can be achieved, by scanning your jaws using our 3D intra-oral scanner and producing a digital animated plan of how we can expect your teeth to move and how long approximately the teeth will take to get to their desired positions.

The great thing about clear aligners are that they fit in with your lifestyle so well. You remove the aligner to eat, drink and brush your teeth. This means you can also remove them for special occasions, but this will impact the time it takes to achieve your goal. 

Rapid Removable Appliances

The Inman Aligner is a specially designed removable brace that aligns teeth quickly and effectively – perfect for those patients who would love a new and improved smile to show off at a special occasion.

The Inman Aligner uses coil springs and aligner bows to gently guide your teeth into their new position. Most patient cases will take between 6 and 18 weeks, as long as the brace is being worn for at least 20 hours per day. You will have regular appointments to check up on your progress.
